Lake Cowichan, Vancouver Island, Canada
2nd Vancouver Island Taijiquan Camp (week 2)
13 Powers Partner Work: Barehand & Taiji Dagger
In this four-day workshop we will look at push-hands and martial-arts applications according to the 'thirteen-power theory' of taijiquan. The barehand thirteen powers include eight kinetic forces (ward, roll, squeeze, and press; pluck, split, elbow, and lean), and five 'stance-phases' (advance, retreat, left-side gaze, right-side look, and central settle. But this concept can guide the practice of taiji dagger, sabre, sword and spear as well.
If one does not accord with these requirements, it will all be a waste of time and energy and leave a legacy of lament.
