3rd Vancouver Island Taijiquan Camp (Week Two)
13 Powers Partner Work: Taiji Push Hands, Dagger & Sabre
In this four-day workshop we will look at push-hands and martial-arts applications according to the 'thirteen-power theory' of taijiquan. The barehand thirteen powers include eight kinetic forces (ward, roll, squeeze, and press; pluck, split, elbow, and lean), and five 'stance-phases' (advance, retreat, left-side gaze, right-side look, and central settle. But this concept can guide the practice of taiji dagger, sabre, sword and spear as well. This year we are focusing on push-hands, dagger, and sabre.
(You can bring a wooden or metal dagger & sabre or use ones provided by Sam)
If one does not accord with these requirements, it will all be a waste of time and energy and leave a legacy of lament.
